Why doesn't the filter last twice as long with one shower per day as with two?

That's a valid question! If you consider only the amount of water filtered, the filter should last exactly twice as long for one person as for two. In practice, however, two crucial factors come into play, which is why we recommend a maximum usage time:

1. The 3-month hygiene rule
Regardless of the amount of water flowing through the filter, a humid environment prevails inside. For hygienic reasons, experts recommend replacing water filters after a maximum of three months . After this time, the risk of bacterial growth in the filter medium increases, even if the chemical filtration capacity is not yet fully exhausted. Therefore, we recommend replacing the filter at least every three months.

2. Standby times and deposits
If showers are used less frequently, the water remains in the filter housing for longer periods. During these periods of inactivity, particles such as limescale or rust can accumulate more readily and clog the filter medium. A filter that is used less often but for a longer period can therefore lose efficiency before the theoretical water volume is reached.

Conclusion:

  • With high usage (multiple people), the amount of water is the decisive factor for changing the tap.
  • For low usage (single household), the duration is the crucial factor to guarantee maximum hygiene and freshness.

How do I know when the filter needs to be changed?

There are three clear signs that you should replace the cartridge:

  2. Return of chlorine smell: The water no longer smells as neutral as it did at the beginning.
  3. Skin & Hair: If skin irritations increase or hair appears duller again after washing, the filter's performance is exhausted.

What happens if I don't change the filter at all?

When the filter reaches its saturation point, it loses its effectiveness – the water then flows through unfiltered. Furthermore, deposits and bacteria can accumulate in the filter over time, which can then come into contact with your skin and mucous membranes via the shower water. Replacing the filter in a timely manner guarantees you consistently cleaner and softer water.

Is changing the filter complicated?
