How often you should change the filter
Here you'll find guidelines on how often the filter should be changed.
Please note: depending on your water quality and how often your household showers, the filter may need changing more or less often.

FAQ
Why doesn't the filter last twice as long with one shower a day as it does with two?
That's a fair question! Going purely by the amount of water filtered, the filter would last exactly twice as long for one person as it does for two. In practice, though, two key factors come into play, which is why we recommend a maximum service life:
1. The 3-month hygiene rule
No matter how much water flows through the filter, the inside stays damp. For hygiene reasons, experts recommend replacing water filters after 3 months at the latest. After that, the risk of germs forming in the filter medium rises, even if the chemical filter capacity is not yet fully used up. That's why we recommend changing the filter after 3 months at the latest.
2. Standing time and build-up
If you shower less often, the water sits in the filter housing for longer. During these idle periods, particles such as limescale or rust can settle more heavily and compact the filter medium. A filter that is used less often but over a longer period can therefore lose efficiency before it reaches the theoretical water volume.
In short:
- With heavy use (several people), the amount of water is the deciding factor for a change.
- With light use (single-person household), the time elapsed is the deciding factor, to guarantee maximum hygiene and freshness.
How do I know when the filter needs changing?
There are three clear signs that it's time to replace the cartridge:
- Falling water pressure: The filter is saturated with limescale and particles.
- The smell of chlorine returns: The water no longer smells as neutral as it did at the start.
- Skin & hair: If skin irritation increases or your hair looks duller again after washing, the filter's performance is exhausted.
What happens if I never change the filter?
Once the filter reaches saturation point it stops working – the water then runs straight through unfiltered. Over time, build-up and bacteria can also collect inside the filter and reach your skin and mucous membranes with the shower water. Changing it in good time guarantees you purer, softer water day after day.
Is changing the filter complicated?
No, not at all! Our shower heads are designed so that a filter change takes less than a minute. All you have to do is unscrew the housing, take out the old cartridge and put the new one in. No tools needed.
